Multiplayer Knights of Honor over TCP/IP?
« on: October 14, 2009, 05:36:21 am »

I'm really hooked on this game now.  Is anyone interested in playing a multiplayer game with me?  It's always a different experience playing against other humans than against the computer.

I'm not exactly sure how to go about setting up a game.  I haven't tried the multiplayer yet.  Should we set up a time to play when we will both have a few hours?  What time zone are you in?  (I'm in GMT +1.)

GMT +10 hours. I'm usually free from about 6pm to 9pm on my time. Weekends, its all day unless I'm doing something.

GMT +7.

Do we use vanilla, or:
use Laudan's Multiplayer maps : http://forums.blackseastudios.com/showthread.php?t=15

I think it's in his MOD HARD INVASION ECONOMIC FINAL (uurgh, bad english, bad english :P) pack, the maps are.

I think his maps are better from the official ones.
Also... Damn, Invasio Barbaroum really hooks me up :P

Edit: Also... I think the GameSpy support is no more... May be wrong, though.

My vote goes against GameSpy anyway, because my copy of the game is not likely to work over their system, for reasons I will not describe...

I would also prefer the vanilla game.  I don't have any mods, am running low on hard drive space, and would probably not do well in a situation with that high a difficulty level, so I wouldn't enjoy it much.

No. no

The HARD is only in single-player.

Multiplayer, not so much.

Also, that mod really, really fixed the troops' balance scale.
Really. (But, but, Catholics are still the strongest and Muslims/Pagans the weakest...)

What kind of balance did it fix?  So far I've only played a single game, and I'm not finished with that, either.  (I'm Portugal and so far I've taken over all of Western and Central Europe.)

Err....

Well, after re-reading it again, mostly costs. And a couple of SP-only stuffs

Emm, I found that the vanilla unit number is a little lacking, soo....

___________

Unrelated: OH, I LONG FOR THE DAY THAT THE MULTIPLAYER GRAND CAMPAIGN IS ULTIMATELY FINISHED AND APPLIED TO THE GAME.

That, or the game become Open-source.

So should we plan to play this Saturday or Sunday?  The time difference would be less of an issue on a free day like that, I think.  And I would really prefer vanilla, at least at first.  I don't want to have to download and learn new mods - I'm barely familiar with the basic game as it is.  And with the exception of the occasional stint of zombie-fighting in DF, I'm not a big fan of mods anyway.  Too many experiences with bugs and game crashes.

Aye, Sat/sun would be good. I'm free this weekend for most of the time, too. Also, yeah I agree, vanilla at first. Ive only played one mod, and that's the Britannia version of Mod Hard.

Emm...

I'm busy this saturday.

Also, can't really access the internet at Sunday morning to afternoon (GMT +7)...

Well, just go w/o me, if I can't. Just be sure to take pics.

(BUT LAUDAN'S MAPS ARE AWESOME! REALLY! Those river crossings are really good)

EDit: I recommend the King of Towers maps, because, after what I seen from a mock multi-player with my cousin, that mode is one of the most enjoyable, since you will be able to reinforce your troops, for a longer battle (not only just skirmishes)

Have you got Steam, Sappho and IWM? Being able to talk in real time would be useful for setting up the game.
