I noticed that in this screenshot of anikki's tileset in the DF wiki that his screen is divided along the top and bottom, rather than left and right.  How did he do that?  Is it a mod, or a custom setting?  How might I adopt the same layout in vanilla 40d?

I would say that is actually two photos cropped together.
