Designate Melt Area
« on: February 26, 2008, 08:32:00 pm »

Picking through the bins in my melt area looking for undesignated metal items to mark is a total pain.

I realize I can use the "stocks" screen and mark from there, but I would also like to be able to designate a "melt region" to quickly mark items for melting.

Thank you for your consideration.

Seconded,

Only if a Dump area is added too though.

I second both these ideas, as I have desired both of them numerous times before while playing. It would very much speed up and simplify tasks.

You mean if "designate melt area" stacks with a dump area?

Yes, definitely, and it would also obviously have to stack with stockpile designations or it would be worthless.

Melt area overriding "forbid" is more controversial ... respecting the "forbid" tag means you have to area-unforbid before you area-melt, but area-unforbidding might unforbid things you wish left forbidden, which would mean you'd have to micro the dump pile to unforbid the metal you wanted melted.

Okay, put me down in favor of auto-unforbidding metal in a melt zone ...
