There was nothing random about me listing my grandfather.

It takes immense courage to do what he did.

I didn't claim my definition was the only right one. I claimed it seems I'm the only one to use ANY exclusive and clear definition at all. Most people seem to just list random relatives or awesome people.

People who they consider 'heroes.'

Whoop! Had a thought!

It may seem to you that these people mentioned are not heroes but each person has a reason for calling them as such. If it's not clear to you then they could stand to explain it better. There doesn't need to be a standard for what counts as a hero except, perhaps, that the person considers them one.

*snip*

a hero is someone who is dedicated to what he/she/it believes, and who commit acts beyond what should be possible in order to serve that ideal and make their vision come real, overcoming seemingly insurmountable difficulties, and sway the fates of many. A hero shuld also be selfless and in general "good".

*snip*

So tempted to Godwin this, especially considering what the word "good" means to different people.

There are distinct classes of heros and they can be used as criteria for hero within their niches.

Certainly for a hero who is unanimously (or overwhelmingly) considered one. But for people like Vesters grandfather, only one person needs to consider him a hero for him to be one. To that person. But he's still a hero because of it.

Well, four. My sister and my parents for sure count him as a hero.

Also (former) Prime Minister Virata, who was part of that government.
