I dunno, being hit with a normal paintball can hurt.  Not sure if I see the appeal of being shot with rounds the size of baseballs.

Played woodball and speedball over here. I never been to a big scenario game with tanks and stuff, however.

I can say I experienced most sides of paintball, tho, I think.

Still, the only story really worth telling was how I shot my own mask, intentionally. It was sort of a bet. I shot straight up in the sky, there was like almost zero wind. I didnt look anywhere but on that paintball. (If you look any place else, you'll never find it again, up there. Dont believe me? Try it.) Took a good aim, tried to catch it with my the goggle part of the mask. And SPLAT. Right between the eyes.

People thought it was a trick. They were looking for people hiding up in the trees and shit.

Well, and some other time, between the rounds, on a real windy day, I claimed I could hit a little pole on the border of the field. Maybe 200 yards away. And the wind was really really really strong. So I aim about 60° to the left of that pole, about 45° up, in the sky, pull the trigger, and the ball is flying in a perfect curve and made a pretty damn satisfying SPLAT boing bading noise when it hit that thing right in the middle (sound was so funny, because the pole was a bigger plastic tube around a metal rod).

Pure luck but -again- people claimed I had a friend hidden up front somewhere.

Of course, I have some proper "Grandpa Simpsons' War Stories", be it from woodland games or speedball tournies, but I bet this thread is full of those already.

Oh hey, something else! The other day I got paint inside the trigger, which shortcircuited some soldering. That didnt just shut down the gun or anything, no FFS, it reprogrammed the timing of the valves ;D I tell ye, THAT took time to fix. I mean, come on, nobody thinks of something like that. I love my gun, it's so dwarfy. (Evolution Autococker with ye olde E-Blade gripframe)

But I dont play anymore. Just cant afford it to blow a few hundred bucks outta my gun each weekend. (15 bps does that, at times). I'm considering getting a real high quality pump action gun and just play with about 100 balls per day, tho.

Oh and lol at the mention of PB sniper rifles. First of all, nothing better than to bunker your friend (or being bunkered) with 15 bps at 30cm ;D You cant find those bruises elsewhere. Secondly, the most accurate guns waste air (intentionally) to be that accurate, usually by using an 8 to 10 inch barrel with a good paint to barrel match. and a really steady airflow, which stays the same every shot, stuff you dont find in milsim markers.
The gun in this setup is a smart parts ion. A decentish low end gun. The airflow isnt all that steady, but with a good barrelset you can get that thing accepably accurate. The horrible abomination they built with it, however, is pure and utter bullshit. Buy it, bin it. At least the addons. I bet for the price of the addons you could get a proper gun  :D

I dont wanna go into details about paintball physics, I can ramble on for hours.

Here is all you'll ever need to learn about the physics behind the game:

Got a Tippmann A5.
I don't have much cash to waste usually, so I love the way it can do semi-autofire as well as single shots. It does waste alot of gas though as the ball delivery system is gasdriven.

Played in only one scenario game near a bunker, a small hill and a small copse the rest of the field was open ground.
One side had to storm the bunker. Safe to say that side got hammered.
Afterwards had a free for all around the bunker's wood itself which had some cool ditches and convoluted trails for ambushes. That was the most fun.

I don't like open spaces or those blowup obstacle courses. it just wastes too much ammo. and I hate adrenalin kicks.

I have to say, those hours of Paintball and Lazerforce snipering really did pay off when I make my documentaries/film. My hands are hella steady now.

Dang, some of these paintball fields mentioned sound pretty crappy as far as customer service goes.  The one I go to  isn't near as expensive as some of you guys are talking about (it's in Charleston, South Carolina, for those interested).  And shooting a guy ten times at point-blank would get you banned, so people can't just go around being sadistic twerps all the time.  I frequently hear players from out of town say that it's much better than what they have where they live.  I got my first gun with some free equipment for $100-$135, and that being equipment like 1-day passes and thermal visors (visors designed to not fog), among other things.  They might not have that deal going anymore, but they will offer some nice deals.  Rentals aren't too expensive, if I remember right.

My advice on this:  if you are in a face off with the other team, and you guys are just ducking up and down, you can have all your guys just stand up on the count of 3 or so and start firing at the opponent's side.  You might hit a few, and if you leave some pauses without ducking back down, you might get more.  You kind of need to start at the right moment, though; else a lot of your guys can get shot.

Advice: Paintballs can hurt, especially no-breaks. I have a (now faint) mark from 2-3 weeks ago.
Advice: Don't freeze your paintballs. It may be fun to make everyone else hurt like hell, but it won't do anything to win.
Advice: Don't unscrew the valve from your air canister. Really bad things can happen. REALLY, REALLY bad things.

And picking paintballs off the ground is a terrible idea, especially if they've been there a while.

So what are these stories like? Were you playing woodsball or speedball? Let's hear what these

I also have an A-5, and I play at Hell survivors in Pinckney, MI. There's some pretty sweet scenario games there, like Day of the Rangers (Somali term for the Battle of Mogadishu), Tippmann world challenge (Tippmann guns against every other brand), and a couple others.

And some places will ban, suspend, or warn you for it.

Oh yeah, if you want go all tactical, don't forget your comm. links!

Hook everyone up with handsfree walkie talkies.
Particulary because flanking is incredibly awesome.

Don't forget that if your enemy is locked into a small area, suppression fire is helpful, in the way that it enables your other teamates to flank the enemy and ambush them from the otherside.
