Reminds me of a story about a millionaire fossil hunter who was searching for bones with viable sabre-tooth cat DNA so he could re-create the species.

While I can kinda back such ideas on technical merit, I can't help but ponder what happens if they manage to pull it off, and, well, think of how killer bees go started.

In this case, I don't think what he'd get would be a re-created dinosaur, but a new species similar to them, at best.  Honestly, we don't know enough about their biology to say for certain.

BEEEEEEEEEES

Well, basing them off birds seems to be a good step in the right direction, since birds are related to 'em.

They need to make these Dinos have the brains of dogs so we can teach them tricks.

I wanna pet raptor. NOW.
It's only a little bit more dangerous than having a dog with jaws of death and claws that will rip out your organs every time it jumps up on you!

That's why I'd want a small one.  Can't do all that much harm if its claws and teeth are chicken-scale.  It'd be like a cat, sort of, and I get on fine with those.

And as a bonus, they'll be hypoallergenic, right?

Unless you're allergic to tiny claws and teeth rending your soft flesh.

This is promising. If we can make dinos out of chickens, then we can make auerochsen out of cows, which will be more resilient in the coming Ice age. Or we could just use yaks. But this is more fun.

Where exactly would wooly mammoths live? It's too warm for them nowadays and the places actually cold enough for them to live in have nothing to eat.

Maybe we could crossbreed them with algae and make them photosynthetic.

Who cares?  Clone them anyway.  The mammoths they've found were flash-frozen over the course of a few seconds, and their meat is edible.  That means the DNA is good.  That means they can be cloned.  Mammoths are cool.  Cloning is cool.  Feelings are not cool.  Mammoths do not have feelings.  Mammoths can be cloned.  When you combine these facts, you reach the conclusion

you know that's an urban legend, right?

Gestation is also very, very important.  We don't know how to create an egg that a dinosaur can hatch from, for instance (although I guess we could start from a chicken egg and make modifications).

It's not really necessary. It looks like this guy is activating dormant genes in chickens, not cloning dinosaurs jurassic park style. Thus, chicken eggs should suffice for these "chickensaurs"...

I'm antediluvian, man.

I WAS THERE.  Don't tell me it was an urban legend.  I saw Ithaqua do it, man.  He froze them on a dare from Nyarlathotep.  Ithaqua's such a loser.
