Why the heck are people making a big deal over the difference between spatter and splatter? Other than the Brits probably goading us Americans.

It's not a British thing. I think it was just one guy.

Anyway. I look forward to the day when detailed chemistry gets added to the game. :P

WOAH!! I made a suggestion that got in the game?!?!?! WOOT!
It works.  I commonly refer to the remains of goons I roadkill in video games as "grease splats."

Happened a lot in Future Cop: LAPD, largely because human enemies that die turn into little puddles of blood, so if I happened to end up backtracking on a level, the floor would end up coated in grease splats.

Yes, actually, I am trying to get myself banned.  I wish Toady would quit working on this worthless piece of junk and go back to teaching math.

The game doesn't yet have chemistry to [model protein changes caused by heat].  Right now, if grease in the game cools, it will turn back into fat, even though it would still be grease in real life which is perhaps slightly closer to tallow chemically or something.  Fat rendering in the game is still a magical process that turns fat into tallow without thinking about what's actually going on.

This made me giggle.

He he he.  Yeah, it almost looks done...  alas...  those who are in your teens, hold on until your twenties...  those in your twenties, your thirties...  others, cling to life as you are able...
It should be pretty fun though.

But seriously, I have no idea what tallow exactly is, so the magical fat-rendering is not really a big problem.

Tallow is just rendered fat.

How does one render fat?  Plop minced fat into a vat, keep it hot but below boiling, and swirl it about until it's ready, that's effectively the most basic way I can describe it.

Besides soap, tallow can also be made into candles, so the potential is there.

So tallow is fat that has been melted into a glob, in a process called rendering?
The more you know...
