Dwarven thoughts can attach themselves to cat spores, which the feline denizens of the fortress release every year, and which eventually are carried by wind currents to the exhulted domain of the mountainhome.

That, or the artifact's maker posted a pic on deviantart.

Or the image maker(s) had a 'lesser' fey mood, possibly triggered by it's creation.

Nah, B-rated at best. I don't think audiences would be too receptive of villainous fish and over sized birds.

They made a Tomb Raider movie about a time traveling triangle. And a second Tomb Raider movie, this time about pandora's box and a sound encoded orb made by Napoleon. Throw enough budget into a movie for CG and you can make a blockbuster out of a movie based on anything.
