Tron?
Meh.
Sounds interesting, but I would rather watch a Michael Bay film.

MICHEAL BAY DIRECTS 'TRON 2'!
IT'S A COMPUTER WORLD....
BUT EVERYTHING EXPLODES!
CAN THE PROTAGONIST DEFEND HIMSELF FROM OVER THE TOP ACTION SEQUENCES?
OF COURSE HE CAN. IT'S A MICHEAL BAY PRODUCTION.

My idea for a promotional poster.

You see,

the only reason people go to see a Michael Bay film,
Is to see explosions and Megan Fox.

Period.

Explosions get boring after a while. And megan fox can only stay young once.

My poster would say:
If you were smart you didn't pay a dime (nor wasted your time) to watch Transformers 2 after seeing the first one.
Prove you're smart again.
DO
NOT
WATCH
THIS.

If you like megan fox... someone has probably comiled every scene in wich she appears and loaded it in youtube...

I can only imagine the pain and nerd tears that were shed rendering all that footage, considering this was before the times of Maya and 3D Studio Max and all those other programs that hide all the math that goes into 3D computer graphics behind a pretty GUI.
Although there was really only a small amount of proper CGI.  Most of it was rotoscoped from monochrome filmed scenes, and treated to almost traditional cell-by-cell hand-animation techniques by a huge number of artists.  Which made it very expensive (but considering the available computing power of the time, which I remember quite well, was at least doable).  See also the TV series Automan

These days they're probably going to use markerless motion capture techniques(though, if they want to save a bit of money, the passive marker version would work well with 'raw' tron-suits, seeing as they'd lie underneath 'glow' overlays if they're keeping that theme) upon and below which to build the purely CGI highlights and backgrounds.  Or full Mocap suits and incorporate elements of 'flesh' on top of completely CGI environments.  Or just full CGI.

I really ought to look at the trailer to try and work out what they've gone for (if it's obvious).

and, yet, tron failed miserably.

and Toy Story grabbed all the glory.

A different era.  And market share (kids/those who have once been young vs those with the acquired nouse to handle certain technogeekery flummery).

One might as well (more closely) compare the relative success of the 1978-ish Lord Of The Rings from Ralph Bakshi and Peter Jackson's recent effort.  (Ignoring, for the time being, the adaptation and scoping differences for both.)  I probably mention this because of the rotoscoping connection of the two earlier films.

well... but If somebody told me that Tron was going to be directed by Peter Jackson I wouldn't doubt for a second that the movie would be worth watching.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1104001/

the director Joseph Kosinski, hasnt released a film yet, tho hes also got a version of logans run in post production

Micheal Bay is probably the worst film director ever

although the islands ok, it would have been better if some one else had directed it.

I haven't been able to get any vomit this release. Not any I can pick up, at any rate.
Swans, too. Swans are complete bastards.
