how do I install graphics packs?

I can't get it to work. can anyone give me a step by step walkthru? thanks. :-[

If you download DF from Mayday's site, you can get the base game (version 40d) with the graphics pack already installed. It's here: http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php

It is also possible to add mods to this graphical version, but be aware that new creatures and content from the mod probably won't have graphics.

If you need to install a graphics pack by yourself after all, it's pretty simple... if I can do it, anyone can!  ;D The graphics sets (for example the one for the Civilization Forge mod) usually include a readme text file that explains you how to do it. It always involves adding the image files and the text files that go along with them in the raw - graphics folder of Dwarf Fortress.
