Am I missing something here?

Great leaders lead their people to victory.

Therefore, Something Greatleader is a name that makes sense for a god of victory.

What's all this about half-wins?

Well, victory can mean a few things here, victories in the sense of other than from waging war and battle.

Considering this is Dwarf Fortress, i wouldn't want to go anywhere near a God of Victory. DF's mortals are bad enough, it's Gods would be positively terrifying.

While there is a god of victory, unfortunately there's no god of conquest. The definition is subtle but important :D
