Marksdwarves, Grates, and Atomsmashing water.

Two seperate questions.

1.  Can marksdwarves fire directly down through grates upon enemies?

2.  Does lowering a drawbridge on a flooded area destroy the water?

1. YES
(it does work both ways, you can shoot through, so can your enemies. I Believe you can make murder-holes for your towers with grates as floors)

2. Dunno, from some obscure posts i've read before it might...

I don't know if enemies can fire back through the grates though.

Of course they can.  Line of sight works both ways.  (Even with fortifications - only those reduce the chance of hitting based on the distance of the archer from the fortification.)

They are pratically at point blank range by then anyways, so a good marksdwarf would pincushon them in a second or less.
