Can't get Duchess

I can't seem to get my Countess promoted to Duchess.

I have almost 4 million in created wealth, 500k in exports and a population of 166.  The only thing that might be a problem is that my original Countess and Count Consort died several years ago, and were replaced.  Any ideas?

Just a shot in the dark, but was your civ's king killed during worldgen without a replacement?

I'm in the same boat as you.

I figure that it has something to do with the kinds of jobs you do, much in the same way that certain jobs are required to get a baron.

So try doing some gem cutting, metal smithing, crafting, and a bunch of other jobs from many different professions, and maybe the countess will get promoted.

I started my fort in the year 2, so I doubt it's the king thing.

About the only job my fort doesn't do is gem cutting and gem setting- I've got every other industry running, including soap making.

OK I'm not doing any milking or cheese making either but I doubt anyone else is.

I'll try the gem stuff.

I cut a bunch of raw glass and that did the trick.  Duchy now.
