So I have a magma pipe and an aquafer.....

How do I mix the two for obsidian?

Channel out a large open space on the level of the aquifer, which will naturally fill with water. Pour magma onto the water. This will form obsidian. Stop pouring the magma (use either a pump or a hatch/bridge with magmasafe mechanisms), let the remaining magma, if any, evaporate, and then dig into the inner layers of obsidian from above (dig stairs or ramps). Leave the outer tiles undug so that they block the aquifer water. Retrieve your obsidian, then channel out the outer layer so that the water can flow in again. Repeat as needed.

Channel out on the level above the aquifer, to the size you desire in obsidian stones, plus two squares for a border.
Build a giant holding tank for the magma.
Fill the tank by pumping from the magma pipe.
Open the taps on the magma, and watch the steam.
Wait until all the magma is gone, then carve out the obsidian, leaving the border.

For re-use, cut a hole in the border to allow water in.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

First, the elves enter the sunken hallway apparently leading to the Trade Depot...
