More color-coding on unit list
« on: August 22, 2006, 12:50:00 pm »

I'm glad that the unit list isn't too garishly rainbow-colored, but it would be handy if there were a few more colors used. Eat/sleep/drink, at least, should be a different color than standard tasks. It would be nice if it differentiated between soldiers and idlers, instead of giving identically-colored "No Job" reports for both.

Simularly, could soldiers have their job set as 'military' or somesuch. And maybe nobles have their job set as 'noble'?

It's difficult to pick out the idle dwarves when I've got a dozen nobles + military.

I've done most of this now.  I broke "friendly" up into friendly, diplomat and merchant, and there are noble/soldier/fort/royal guard designations.  Children/babies are left blank.  I'm not sure about which jobs to color code, or what color to make them, since I just ran out.  I guess I could do some of that...  background coloration, though it might look disgusting.

Wonderful!

My recent thoughts on color-coding the 'u' list:

Ccolored down-arrows for hunger, thirst, tiredness and depression visible,
red + if the dwarf if suffering from wounds,
sex symbols visible in 'u' between name and job,
and perhaps white ! for those in strange mood.

Won't it be more effecient then to have the *actual dwarf* appear in the 'u' list? Complete with flashing all the appropriate arrows, marks etc. And will take just one character space before the name. Two, because you want it to be separated.

What do you need the sex sumbols for? It's not that it can affect your decisions in any way... dwarves are untimately non-gender-discriminant.

As long as we're talking about colors, any chace you could brighten up Fisherdwarves a little? I always have trouble spotting them.

In the init.txt file I think, you can change the color attributes. (so you'll change the dark blue every time it is used)
