Everyone's favorite game: The Running Goblin!
« on: July 25, 2009, 05:46:33 pm »

Instead of just using goblins for target practice, I have found its much more fun to give them an almost fair chance to flee from the depths of the castle.

Not many get far since the archery range is next door  ;D

I admit it is funny when I see a target practicing dwarf and a fleeing goblin run opposite directions when target practice gets interrupted.

If anyone still remembers the Dwarven Marathon thread, I'm going to make a new gauntlet, a better gauntlet.. a proper gauntlet.. once I can be bothered to start a new fortress :P That'll make use of the goblin prisoners I always have a-plenty.

I'm waiting for the next release, whenever that may be. When that's released, I'm hoping the horrible clothing bugs are fixed and something is done about the hauling. I hate to have my fortress riddled by goblin corpses. Well, the corpses aren't that bad, but the 3 page stacks of crap they leave behind that I need to dump are pretty bad, though.

Before anyone else says it, I'm gonna suggest that you do something with magma.

I wanted to build Armok's Gauntlet (not the ship, an actual gauntlet of traps and such) which would have dozens of rooms with different traps ranging from magma floods to releasing swarms of Rhesus Macaques. I just don't really have the focus to play one fortress for that long.

The hardest part would be setting up a kobold based RNG to set off the traps, otherwise it's too predictable.

Nice, the PORN-STARS system looks like it's really handy.

Yesh, this will work! Engineer is credit to team!

I'll still wait for the next version, though. And that's probably going to be another year. Or two.

I love it! The area they run through could be populated by vicious tamed animals, crazy death traps that have a low probability of working (but a high probability of being awesome if they do), and of course THE STALKERS. You could have single-dwarf military units stationed in the game zone, with booze, food, and beds nearby of course. And if any goblin managed to "win", you could catch them in a cage trap and put them in a more ordinary killing chamber, or just have them run again.
