Well planned builder cleanup can be a very efficient way to move stuff sometimes, because no nasty pathing issues they just buckle down and move all that stuff during the one job.

...would it be possible to have a catapult set up so that it shoots the stone down a corridor, and makes the stone land in a stone stockpile next to my masons?
Stone must fall, after a catapult flight, to be useful at the end.  (More or less.)

Confirmed.  1 level drop is enough.  Catapult range maxes at about 100 tiles, and must be orthogonal. No "height" is needed - the stones fly on the same z-level as the cat', harmless to any creature, and then land, or drop when they hit a hard obstacle.

(Note that ballista arrows are NOT harmless as the fly.)

retooled my entire fortress to sylvite (that was a huge pain in the ass) and boiled the rock salt today . It took about 10 minutes to actually load the game. I then had 0 fps for another five while I waited for it all to boil. Boiled 8 artifacts too but the creators don't seem to mind...?
