Last time Sealand was brought up it led to terrible things.  Let us not take that road again.

Regardless, I will take over Svalbard and name it Labland. I shall be it's king and each citizen will be required to run a copy of Dwarf Fortress at least once a week.

I will claim an uncharted island.  I'll call it DEATHFLESHEATSCARY ISLAND.

Will it be populated by murderous, bloodthirsty cannibals?

Damn Sealandians, always laying waste to the realm of the surface-dwellers. Or maybe that was the Atlantians. I forget. Which one has Aquaman?

Neither, Aquaman's part of the justice league.

Sealand caused VN to sink to the bottom of the deepest, most sinister ocean. We just need to keep Inaluct away from this topic.

But yes, the thing that makes this cool to me is offshore living platforms. The whole "I'm a country, defending myself from hostile takeovers and such"  bores me thanks to too many Michael Bay movies. It's the idea of developing floating homes Waterworld Style.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I find the fact that people have fought over this to be hillarious.
Patri Friedman'sseasteading stuff is cool though.  Not for me per se, but it's important for SOMEBODY to be doing it :)

Quote
Essentially, this viewpoint states that there are three levels on which we can focus: Policies, Systems/Institutions, and Industry/Ecosystem (the market for government).  We believe it is short-sighted to focus on analyzing policy and suggesting better ones, because policies emerge from institutions, and democracy is not an institution which optimizes for good policy.  Reforming institutions is worthwhile, and we believe the best way to do this is by making the governing industry more competitive by lowering the barrier to entry and cost of switching providers.  This has a number of advantages over other methods, like the ones listed in my Cato Unbound Essay
