yeah, but at least it can be away from the favour of the humans. I should steer my worldgen to create the biggest elf civ ever, trade them wood until the scream war at me, and then when they attack it would be awesome to behold. The scores and legions of the conquered peoples of the elves marching onwards against the glorious cliffs and walls of my mountainhome.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Yeah, that's true... you can pick which way it'll probably fall.

I think that vanilla is intended to favor humans though, but that could just be experience and personal prejudice talking
