I'm a type of guy with a somewhat paranoid mindset. Anything that can happen that I can't see, prevent, or expect is a severe problem. Malware, or any form of virus is thus a major threat to me, so I recently downloaded Avast!, which I heard was very good.
However, having allowed the program to rummage through my harddrive and apparently remove whatever was infecting it at the time, I've encountered a new problem, my computer is running significantly slower now.
Ontop of that, when starting up my computer, instead of starting up, there's apparently a 50/50 chance of it instead going into purgatory, and absolutely refusing to listen to me. No matter what I do, no matter how long I wait, no matter what icons I click, the computer will not respond, leaving me with no choice but to do a hard reset on the computer, and hope it does better the next time.
This problem is VERY unexpected, and thus very aggravating, as ontop of being particular paranoid, I'm also fairly dense. I expect everything about a product to be explicitly stated, and I don't remember a single damn warning about this program tying my computer's shoelaces together, and I can't help but feel that some nerd is laughing at me this very moment, as I do not innately have the computer know-how to expect this sort of thing, nonetheless fix it.
Should I just get rid of Avast? Because the settings for telling it to quit aren't exactly intuitive, as I'm not sure what it's doing that's causing my computer to seize up like it's been doing.
