Turtles without murky pools?
« on: July 12, 2009, 11:40:29 am »

So. My current fort is apparently mostly a rocky plain, with a small sandy desert area. The only water is a brook and an underground river.

Plenty of fish from the brook, but no turtles. Can I obtain them somehow, without having to trade for them?

After all, the last moody dorf was only saved by someone's appetite for the turtles I'd literally just bought.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Channel a reservoir from your brook.  Turtles are vermin and will spawn in the water in the reservoir.
