I guess if you put the cycles too high, you CPU starts going at 100% the whole time.  I guess that could damage it in a way.

No, that's absurd and silly.  If you put the cycles too high, though, it can cause some old games to run too fast to be playable.

i downloaded it but it didnt look like a manual so i was double checking.

Yes, of course it's a manual.  57 pages is about normal for a game manual, when it includes supplemental stuff like story or plot.  Instead of 'story' and 'plot', this one has actual practical wilderness advice, too.  The entire point of this game is that it's realistic to the point where doing smart real-life things is the same as doing smart in-game things.

You can ignore any pictures and stuff.  Your character is assumed to have read the book too, see!  So you can just tell your character to build a shelter and he'll know how.  When the manual says something in ALL CAPS, it refers to a command to type in; stuff that's in lowercase is not a command to type in.
