So, tame animals will breed with animals that came from outside?

The only female horse brought with the wagon on embark just gave to birth to horse foals. Maybe she mated with some of the merchants' wagon horses.
I wonder if this applies to wild animals.

Yeah, tame animals can breed with wild animals.

Wandering wild animals very rarely last long enough to give birth to children of their own, though. However, creatures that dwell in rivers or underground features never leave the map, which can lead to dangerous hippo outbreaks and cave crocodilesplosions.
