It appears we're subverting the music industry.
« on: June 27, 2009, 07:07:35 pm »

Something struck me, recently.

I was listening to a song (Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine) and I realised just how dwarven some of the lyrics are. This is the entire song, stolen from some site called 'sing365.com'.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

'Tha rotten sore on tha face of mother earth gets bigger'
Magma flood, anyone?

'Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes'
Dwarven Priorities.

'Line up to the min(e)d cemetery now'
I originally thought this said 'mined' rather than 'mind', and which of us wouldn't follow a vein of gold that cut through our mausoleum? If you insist on 'mind', well, dwarves get killed trying to liberate socks.

'While arms warehouses fill as quick as tha cells'
Again, Dwarven Priority, mixed with some Dwarven Justice.

Conclusion: Zach De La Rocha plays DF.

Oh yeah, and I don't own any of this yadda yadda blah.

Any other songs you think are rather dwarven, feel free to mention.

Just to make sure, you do know that Bulls On Parade is about fifteen years older than Dwarf Fortress right?

'Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes'

Dwarves preferring a battleaxe over plump helmets, a bed or a random shoe in the middle of a battlefield?

Are we playing the same game?

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Aqizzar: Okay, than Tarn Adams IS Zach De La Rocha.

It should have occurred to me, though.

Duke: I meant more DF player priorities, but i see what you mean.

You can interpret anything as anything. Which is why people think 9/11 was an inside job, there's lizards controlling us from under the ground and Obama is a figurehead for the Illuminati. Some could interpret the bible to tell you to stone naughty children to death.

I could take "maxwell's silver hammer" by the beatles, and tell you it's about the life of a hammerer.

Remember, "we all live in a yellow submarine" means we're all avoiding the Chinese threat.

Eh, true, but my way is at least slightly more credible that do-random-things-to-a-significant-number-until-it-becomes-a-different-significant-number.

Oh, and the age disparity? smoke, mirrors and makeup.

Conspiracy theory time:

1-DF is possibly subverting the music industry

2-Michael Jackson died

Maybe someone filled MJ's pills with magma.

We need to get closer than that before implicating MJ, Dakk.

Rage and Michael Jackson are rather different. Let's pass the conspiracy through a few more artists first ;)

I think toady may have gone overboard with the new poison system.
