THe only type of elfs I prefer are Dark elfs, or drow or shade whatever. Mostly because they're the only elfs that tend to live in caves and almost try to seem dwarf like.

I agree, drows are awesome. They are one of my favourite races in D&D.  8)

Not very anonymous is it?

Anyway, I never played an elf. I stand by my two accepted uses of elves.

Killing and porn.
finally you made me laugh!

Elves aren't so bad when they sell you tame giant eagles.

I wonder what elf nobles are like...

I do confess to being addicted to tame giant scorpions, giant great cats and giant birds of prey-but I think everyone can confess to that. And to be honest...never had any problems with the tree cap so far. Between rapid use of the logs and ones brought by dwarf and human caravans, don't have any issues.

Hmm, a beserk elf just bruised the hand of one of my champions as he went in to finish off the final crazy elf and let the civilians take the random items.  There's only one response to this disgusting assault from the elf: GENOCIDE.

Greetings, elf lovers! You are all welcome here! Now if you would kindly pull that lever there, the meeting can begin...

Hi, my name is Rhen ... (Hi Rhen)

i play a bloodelf in wow and cant stop it. i know there is the chance to play a dwarf too, i sometimes really want to, but i cant stop playing my bloodelf...

I have to admit that I'm the same story. At least they're a different kind of elf. Less tree-hugger, more... magic addict with a hint of lust for power.

As for DF elves... they can die. I always thought they were somewhat scary but awesome though, what with the way they form massive zerg armies that feast on the flesh of the fallen.

Hi, I'm Iroel.

My elf set fire to a huge forest to get to three hobgoblins.

I never did understand people who held this opinion.

Hi, my name is Ark ... (Hi Ark)

After being introduced to fantasy media, the elves were always portrayed as stone-cold badasses (see Legolas, DF Untrained archers).
My first Dnd character was a half-elven bard and my oblivion character was a wood elf.

Now with extra doses of vitamin D (for dwarf) I am starting to see the best way to enjoy fantasy media.

Also, I love mining the hell out of nethacks dungeons.

Next your gonna say that dwarves are tall?

If I'm not grossly mistaken(possible), "elf" comes from an old term for "fairy."

I generally imagine elves as short(4-5 feet tall) and dwarves as very short(2'6"-3'6")
You're grossly mistaken. 'Elf' comes from the old Scandinavian term Svartelfr(Old Norse, meaning 'Black Elf' or 'Dwarf'). The distinction didn't come around until Tolkien mixed things up, and everyone else copied him ever since.

Wait, what? Wasn't it was DWARVES who came from the Dark Elves?
Elves are elves, and they are fae, from the dawn of Anglo-saxon's mythos.

Elves are evil.  Only two elves have gained my respect; Legolas (beat Gimly(sp) at drinking), and the elf from Jim C. Hines' Goblin Quest, who was perfectly willing to burn wood for a fire and eat venison.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
