So, guys, I did the most stupidest thing and built my smelter room on the top level of the Magma pool, so when I released the magma underneath, it all just sloshed out to 1 z-level and ended up evaporating and causing the top of the magma pool to be open space.

So, i'm going down 2 z-levels, gonna put a few floodgates (bauxite) and let magma flow in, I then want to pump this magma up 2 z levels back to original magma pool surface height, to stop noise distracting my sleeping dwarves 4 floors below.

What I wanna know is, how do I do this effectively? And, I have a brook 1 z level below my fort, I wanna pump the water up to a well, how fcan I effectively do this? P.S. i'm doing it all automated, powered by water wheels, so I wanna get it right or it'll fuck up. Do pumps burn if touched by magma or what? How can I keep the magma contained and safe?

hand pump the magma up?

Magma never travels upwards due to pressure, only around and down.

Why would you ever want to automate something that could drain your magma pipe!
