Do barrels get re-used?
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:26:27 pm »

Once a barrel of booze is drunk from, does it become empty again?

I'm trying to get an equilibrium with how much my dorfs eat and drink.

Yes, once barrels are empty, they're hauled to the furniture stockpile until you need them again.

Thanks.  That's what I guessed.

Another one, any reason a Legendary Clerk doesn't flash?  I'm using the Mayday tiles.

I've never bothered with the effort of getting a legendary clerk, but are you SURE he's legendary?  And by flash, you're only looking at the name in the units menu, right?

I mean flashing on the game screen to indicate Legendary status.  They're definately Legendary, I've just started a new reclaim fort with thirteen dorfs.  I want to max them in as many stats as possible, and Clerk trains really fast.  Three dorfs are already Legendary in it, I have'nt even got a Miner or Pump Operator up there yet.
Once they hit Legend in another stat, I guess I'll know for sure.

Flash on the game map screen itself?  Since when did they ever do that?  I use mayday and I don't recall ever seeing anything but a unit's name flash when they're legendary.

I just double checked and the Clerks are flashing, just very, very faintly.  I'm using the Mayday Green set from the TinyPirate tutorial.  The names flash in the menus, but also on the main game screen the dwarf icons flash light and dark once they hit Legendary.

They faintly flash on the game screen?  ...never actually noticed.  Neat.

The tile set wouldn't effect whether or not the dwarves flash, anyway. :P

So the legendaries don't flash under the mayday tileset?

Yeah, they do.  But the Clerk is only a very slight change.

Some color settings are more subtle than others. Some monitor settings are more sensitive.

Yes, the furniture stockpile.  I find it handy to have a furniture stockpile which handles barrels and nothing else sitting next to my still.  Sometimes I'll set my farmer's workshop next to the stockpile as well.
