Dragon breeding issues?
« on: June 05, 2009, 09:46:16 pm »

It could be me, but it seems my dragons haven;t bred for two years now. I only have around eight, so I don't think there should be any issues-or do dragons have a pop cap below 50?

Edit: NVM, one just gave birth. Guess I'm so used to dealing with constant animalsplosions that I assumed something was wrong (bright side, I almost never have to deal with hungry dwarves-downside is crops sometimes rot for lack of space).

Edit 2: In case it wasn't clear, they were, in fact, breeding before-I just forgot that mine usually bred in the spring instead of winter like the rest of my animals. (That, or perhaps the announcement I managed to send the world back into the age of myth screwed up with their breeding announcement). I *did* mod them to breed.

Wait, what?
Megabeasts actually never breed at all, at least in Vanilla DF

They don't breed in the wild, but they DO breed if you've tamed them.

You have to give them the [Child:X] tag, with x being the ammount of years they spend as a child. This allows them to breed.

They don't breed in the wild, but they DO breed if you've tamed them.
Only if you mod them.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Guys, isn't it obvious? The Male Dragon obviously has erectile dysfunction. Pop him a viagra pill and he'll be on his way. Either that, or the mood in the bedroom isn't too good. To be honest, I wouldn't want to "get it on" with about 20 tiny weeny Dwarves looking at me. Perhaps if you give them a private "brooding chamber" and spice up their love life a bit. You could say, "flame" it up a bit, excuse the gay-ass pun.

On a more serious note, mod them. Some guy here had Dragons that were breeding and making hatchlings. That, or make them buyable from the Elves.

Wouldn't that be "a reptile dysfunction?"

Well, ok...not sure if DF dragons would be considered reptiles...

Y'know...the idea of breeding a fortress full of fire-breathing lizards seems hazardous, somehow...

Someone needs to mod them to hunt vermin in the fortress.  With firebreath!

They would adopt owners.
It would be like a catsplosion, except with 20 foot long, firebreathing reptiles.
And they would ALL belong to the Dungeon Master.
