Berserker Dwarves
« on: May 31, 2009, 09:54:54 pm »

Im excavating around a magma pipe so I can break through th aquifer and I accidentally designate the wall for the pipe to be dug out. It kills 3 of my legendary miners, my legendary gemcutter/craftdwarf/broker and floods my fortress with magma. I end up saving my farmer, my woodcutter, and the final legendary miner who happened to be a lover of one of the dead. I also saved my booze. About a season later my final miner goes berserk and attacks my farmer and woodcutter, putting them into unconciusness and then begins removing the fingers of my farmer. He has no fingers and 5 toes left and she is still attacking him.

Will she ever stop?

Is she insane or in a tantrum? If it's a tantrum, yes, after enough violence she will eventaully settle down and tend to the wounded. If she's insane, nope. She'll kill until there is nothing left to be killed or she herself is slain.

Shes in a tantrum. But she didnt stop, I left my PC for a couple of hours and one of the dwarves she was stabbing died of thirst. I decided to open a magma floodgate with one of my cat "traps" and kill the last 2 dwarves.

You have tantrumming dwarves, magma, booze, and no explosions? You are doing it wrong. Go back, and make that booze explode. It's the only way to be sure.

Holy crap! :o

If the game actually said "berserk" that is insanity, and she won't recover.
