Dwarves ignore Zone-Only Drinking orders

This is starting to bug me quite a bit. I'm trying to get my dwarves to drink from a natural pond, but instead they they go far out of their way to the local brook to drink, and keep getting ambushed. Ive set up multiple drinking zones on the pond in case that was the problem, but it hasnt done anything. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

This seems to be a common problem. The only really workable solution is to make a well, which dwarves prefer over any other water source.

I think the problem is due to the fact of drinking preference, they should have fresh water as a higher priority than stagnant water (excluding well/bucket based stagnant water.)

The issue is more than the orders menu should force dwarves to only drink from designated drinking zones, but they ignore that because of their preference for fresh water.

ya it's probably like that so they wont go drinking water when there's succulent booze to be had.
