Quickfort Tool, need help!
« on: May 29, 2009, 10:58:39 am »

Hey guys, Quickfort is the tool I really need because I do LOADS of digging and I usually restart Forts a lot, and I usually end up quitting because I don't want to dig out all the workshops again. I used Quickfort, it seems amazing, but whenever I desginate a place to be done, it just kinda digs everywhere and doesn't even RESEMBLE the thing it's meant to be. I followed the steps precisely and it still fucks up.

Need help, really need this or it'll slow me down a lot and I might just quit because it's depressing having to do it all the time. I mean quit as in leave DF for a few days then get back to it, even though I want to play :c

Post it in the quickfort tool thread!

Seriously, why start a new thread?

I'm not an expert on this, nor have I used this Quickfort tool of which you speak, so my advice isn't going to be particularly specific.

However, I believe that this sort of problem arises when the keystrokes generated by Quickfort (or autohotkey, or whatever) are too short or too close together for DF to process correctly.

To fix this, you can either change the settings within Quickfort (if you can; I'm not familiar with Quickfort) or you can fiddle with the settings in init.txt.

One of the lines in init.txt (can't remember which one, and I'm not at my home computer) deals with how many milliseconds DF will wait before checking for new keyboard input. Or something. Try that.

Thanks a lot! Found a speed modifier in Quickfort, and the thing in DF, will try now ;)

in 40d infinitely fast keystrokes would just cause the game to lag for a couple of seconds but then have whatever design placed down correctly. 40d11 skips some keystrokes if they occur to fast.

In init [KEY_HOLD_MS:150] affects this behavior I think.
