Stopping a bersek wrestler
« on: May 27, 2009, 05:31:10 pm »

All my military dwarves are bedrridden, the one who isn't is bersek, and I have four dwarves who can actually be spared-but none of them have any training. Any recommendations on how to take this terror down?

Lock him in a room. Cave in. Magma. Water. Cage traps can be triggered by beserkers I think, too.

insane dwarves trigger traps.

or you can use q-l to forbid moving through a door.

or dig some trenches to keep him away.

Uh, thing is, my legendary armorsmith is trapped in there with him. And I have no access to minning tools atm...
edit: wait, I might, so i just need to get out the armorsmith...

War dogs.

(Better to assign them before the insanity, but still.)

Attach them to a sane dwarf, Activate that dwarf and move them near/in the path of the berserk one. Let the dogs do their job.

Better yet, I have dire wolves I could train (orc mod ones). Unfortunately, the area he's in is also where *all* the fort's animals are being held in a stockpile. What would you say my odds are for a skeletal sea serpent being let loose and killing the berserk wrestler, then getting recaptured? Or would a single giant desert scorpion do the trick?

That's like letting loose the lion to take care of the dog.  I would much prefer a beserk dwarf than a skeletal sea serpent stalking my fortress.

Better yet, you took some precautions before this happened.  But here we are.  If you have time to train wolfs, this isn't the critical situation you describe.

You don't have an animal trainer who has several unassigned wardogs attached to him at all times?  An outdoors-type dwarf like a wood-cutter who needs a little backup?

You have indeed chosen poorly...
