I've got a beautiful hematite cabinet I want to share. I'll edit this post with the details in a couple of hours, I'm just now posting to remind myself later on.

EDIT:

That name is fucking killing me. Also, at the time of its creation it comprised like 10% or more of my fort's value (around 30k).

My buckler.  With a picture of one of my dwarves arriving.  Great.
Scratch that, a picture of a PEASANT HAULER arriving. WOW.   ??? :( :P

With all those ingredients it might actually be worth something, but I think you may end up wanting to post that in the "lamest artifact" thread, there, zc.  :-\

Raw green glass earring, no doubt.

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

its 1712 dorfweight, not TOO bad, but i was hopin' for something lighter, why couldent he have taken the aluminum bar next to the damn platinum!

oh, and i also have a wooden coffin spiked with wood, called "pregnantmuddled"

seriously.....

anywho, anyone else got some stuff they wish to share? derail my thread all you want my queries are answered.

love, jakkarra

EDIT: wrong word used

If you wanted him to do that, you should've just forbid the platinum.  If they seize a craftshop, I usually go for the cheapest stuff anymore (after one dwarf turned out my most valuable item:  a giant eagle right glove worth ~200k.  No right glove, mind you).  Go into stocks and you can forbid everything you don't want them to touch.  I managed to get some decent stuff using this method, though sometimes it's more hilarious to just let them go and see what happens.

How promising is this looking?

I got a green glass bed from something like that.  Turned out great when my countess consort turned up, she gets an artifact bed in a material she likes.  These nobles are the easiest to please that I've ever had.  They just ask for silver and chains.  So I've got a ton of silver chains lying around.  The bastard mayor keeps demanding anvils, though, which pisses me off.  He'd have an accident if he weren't my legendary stonecrafter.

No, crystal glass (the rock crystals) - just for added insult to using rare ingredients in creating a truly useless item.

Marble, rock crystal (damnit!), giant bat leather.  Yeah, going to be worth something...

But my current mayor like aluminum.  Annoying...
Baron (killed his wife. She wanted something I didn't have), wants grates. Lots of grates.  Mayor also has a thing for beds.  Good times.

EDIT: Green glass animal trap, worth 19200, and weighing in at 52.  Great. 5 spikes, and 1 rings of birch.  Giant bat leather, green glass, rock crystal, birch and marble spikes. Lots of spikes!
AND, NO engravings.  What a let down.

It has an image of Obok Specialshields the dwarf striking down Aslot Knifemenace the goblin
also an image of a circle in maple.

Nice thing about animal traps, though, is that they're placeable. So you can stick it in your dining room and have very happy dwarves!

That's what I did with a fancy (~70k) floodgate of mine. I even hooked it up to a lever in case anyone wanted to try it out. Still, I was a bit miffed that I wasn't able to use it as a door for that dining room and have its value taken into account.
