How can I keep owned items out of my stockpiles?
« on: May 26, 2009, 05:43:03 pm »

For some reason, I'm always getting randomly discarded clothing showing up in my stockpiles. They belong to somebody, but instead of storing them in their rooms, they've discarded them to my stockpiles (Usually the items have some wear to them.) Since I can't D)ump them anywhere, how do I get these dwarves to come pick up their crap or get rid of it?

It's there because they're hauling replacements out the stockpiles. Just (h) hide them and forget about it.

Or magma.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Most likely your dwarves just dumped them there after picking up something else to wear. The good news is that (I think) they're not actually stored in the stockpile*, so the space can still be used for more useful stuff. I know of no way of making dwarves clean up after themselves, so your best bet my be to just hide them and pretend they don't exist.

Also... *sighs* magma. There is always magma.

*Note that items on the ground will still block things from being stored, unless you use bins, which can be placed on top of stones/lose crap freely.

I have an armor stockpile with the same problem, this one with new shoes.  Shoes are listed under armor, but these shoes are not being put into bins and instead stacked on top, but not randomly, from top left to bottom right fashion.  I have empty bins in my furniture stockpile, so what is the deal?

They're rooting through to find new shoes, discarding the old ones willy-nilly, but not rescinding ownership so nobody ELSE can move them either.
I had the same problem with my forges and clothier shops as well as the stockpiles. Mostly with shoes.
