I always wondered... if you have a corridor full of traps, and the corridor has a roof, whether or not flying creatures will trigger the traps..
It definitely does. I reliably expect dragons to enter my fort right where the ceiling starts so for pet dragons I stick a couple of traps right there.

I should probably update my entryway full of stonefall traps, then, I just channelled out the part above the dogleg so my stupid dwarves would stop running outside.

Someone could test out the falling/cage trap theory pretty easily.  Just pit a goblin off a tower and have a cage trap waiting below.  Shouldn't be that hard, and would be better than learning the hard way that it doesn't work.
