Melancholy disappeared
« on: May 21, 2009, 05:02:20 pm »

One of my nobles was struck by melancholy, because I did not give her a room in time and I couldn't live up to her expectations as for mandates. So then I quickly got her favorite animals and furniture in the room, finished it, smoothened the walls, engraved them, gave her a zoo, statue hall, huge rooms, lots of shiny, pretty furniture, and now the melancholy is gone.

Bug or feature?

Probly a feature

Suicider: I'm going to jump
Police: Please! Don't jump!
Suicider: ....  Ok.

Or try FUBAR! The best chocolate bar ever!
And you can't eat them, either, sadly. Even though it'd make sieges so much more fun; dwarves lining the walls, drooling and carrying sharp knives and forks, ready for the upcoming meals.

It's a bug.  Did anything else happen?  Ever get an artifact mood?

I had others go crazy after I couldn't get the items for their artifacts, and I didn't bother to help them as I had read that it would mean certain death if they'd go insane. Could it be that the game does not check if there's melancholy, but wether the mood is miserable (or close enough to feeling miserable) or not and forces it to get stuck on that 'till death? As the noble wasn't "feeling miserable lately" but something like "feeling unhappy lately". Only after she was ecstatic for a little while the melancholy disappeared. Oh, and she was holding a baby when she was struck by melancholy if that matters.

I'm currently preparing another room for the next person to go insane.

Just assign a potential crazy some war dogs.  Usually they get sorted out pretty fast.
