Am I wrong in seeing this as abnormal behavior?  I must confess, I've never made an idol before.  Do all dwarves do this?

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.

An idol is a basic trade good.

You told them too.
(unless it was a mood, in which it made the dwarf awesome at that job and it is worth a fleet of dwarfbucks.)

The first post would say:

Quote
Sigun Aranadil, Metalcrafter has created Sigun Aranadil, a Rose gold idol!

If you could see it...

I haven't seen anything like that before, that is pretty funny.

A self portrait. I had one like that, I posted it on the wiki under stories.

Imagine if he crafted it as an artifact. It would have an image of his idol etched on it, plated with gold with an image of himself on it.

The value would be staggering... The sentimental value, that is.

EDIT:
Unless... that was an artifact. Any details of it?

That, and this must be drawn, someone has got to do it. But of course, we would require descriptions of our fellow artisans.

Moved Image host from google sites to imageshack.

Yes, it was an artifact, but unfortunately the result of a possessed mood.

Edit: value of 61200 :(  He apparently isn't good enough to be TOO proud of himself.

Edit 2: "This is a Rose gold idol.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is studded with Zinc and encircled with bands of Rose gold.  This object menaces with spikes of Nickel silver."

Sorry but there isn't any. The save file has been lost, I remember him though. He was single, had a few friends and worked as a woodcutter .. everything else is in the story. Kind and gentle, very immodest and appreciative of new ideas.

Edit: Oh and he was told to hunt and wear leather armor. Just remembered that one. He didn't actually do any hunting, I had long since killed off all the animals so I just told everyone to hunt and they'd carry armor. Figured it'd be safe... since he worked outside of the fortress he also had a wardog for protection but that's really it.

What's the guy's personality like? It might have something to do with why he created a miniature version of himself, especially if he's exceptionally vain.

Aye, aye, captain!  Images are almost clearly visible, with only a spoiler obscuring them!

They are easily dealt with!  *boom*  No sir we did not just fire a missile at the spoiler!  Honest!

Seriously (more or less), those are funny stories.
