Dwarfs.  And water pressure.

Maybe you've heard similar stories - easy to do, huh?

I never use the same tunnel system for escape that I use for tapping magma or water - too many things can go wrong.  When possible, I dig an entirely separate tunnel system, or have locked doors/hatches, or just build walls, separating the two paths.  Positive.  And I still can never trust it completely when it gets tapped.

Did you tap part of the river below an underground waterfall? A river from a waterfall has pressure up to the top of the waterfall - call that a bug, but it's a known one.

alright sorry its takin me so long to reply...
i found the fix for it was to build a system of doors

Hole into the underground pool > door> door > door

going through all the doors let the pressure get less because it wasnt connected to the pool
anyway, it worked! thanks for the help!
