Magma not behaving properly
« on: April 29, 2009, 05:14:55 am »

I recently embarked on a map in which a magma pool went from a very high Z level all the way down. I decided to take advantage of this by making a tunnel which lead to one level above my main gates. After a long and boring wait, the magma filled in the room above the gate, held back by a floodgate.

After making floodgates to trap invaders in, I tested it out by stationing a squad there. I closed the flood gates and trapped them in and released the lava. But to my surprise, after about 3 minutes of watching, they didn't burn and die at all. The most damage done was one of them getting thirsty. I had the feeling they'd drown instead of burn, and my question is...

Why aren't they slowly burning to death? What kind of magma is this?
