It all depends on what you consider "status quo", doesn't it?

I'm not really sure if Puck is trying to prove a point or deliberately trying not to prove a point since he seems to be arguing against imaginary things that no one else mentioned. Maybe it's some sort of newfangled youth joke that I don't get.

Yanlin: You sound like a conservative yourself.

I consider myself a rational liberal.

Call me a moderate if you want.

So, I'm not allowed to mention anything new? You alright?

I just don't like hearing the same bullcrap over and over again, you know, every discussion about status quo brings up the "change/stagnation - life/death" argument sooner or later. Same as the god thingie in the other thread always brings up good and bad. And that's like a very old hooker -

Everybody had a shot at it, but it didnt do any good.

And you didnt mention any fiction that pictures the status quo as exceptionally desirable yet. I can think of a few things, sure, but for every one of those stories I can think about ten more that tell us the opposite.

I'd describe myself as a pretty liberal person. I don't care for politics anymore, because all of it is lies and self promotion. A politician only lies when his heart beats.

That means he can say truths between heartbeats. One letter in a word may actually be true!

Some politicians that have been dead for a long time are still deceiving people...

When something changes, its old state is lost, you cannot have change without loss, loss is painful, people don't like pain, and in a fictional world you can avoid pain...

But mostly it is probably just unoriginal script writers using the same old plots...
