Levers and soldiers
« on: April 18, 2009, 11:03:23 pm »

Do soldiers (either on or off duty) pull levers if there is nobody else available?  I have a lever that is considered outside which triggers a trap, so if I have my dwarfs ordered inside except for soldiers, will the soldiers work the lever?

I don't think soldiers will pull levers... but children and nobles do so, I'm interested in knowing this as well.

Nope. They ignore it.

Nobles pull levers though, I don't know if kids do it .. don't think they do. Personally I've set up a group of "supporting troops" that consist of nurses and siege operators. They all work when there aren't any wars to be fought of course, mining and planting and practicing shooting rocks from catapults.

When goblins come they fire ballistas, pull levers and haul the wounded. They're pretty crucial... WERE anyway, nowadays the civilians don't even need to take cover when goblins come.

pretty sure levers fall under the 'no skills' jobs, so any person capable of doing it can do it. However soldiers are exempt from 'all' tasks outside of soldiering tasks, like sparring and such...
