I started an army with four squads with seven soldiers.  They started on a screw pumps to toughen them up, then sparred as wrestlers to get them fighting fit.  They all got to Champion fairly quickly except one guy, who stayed an Elite Wrestler.  From what I've read, he won't train any higher because he's got a lower spine injury.
What I tried, was to take all of my caged goblins and let him fight them a few at a time, just to get him to level up to Champion.
Except, the son of a bitch has been hospitalised four times, has a hundred and eleven kills, and is still an Elite Wrestler.

Will he ever become a Champion?

he may become a champion someday.All he needs is a few years of bedrest.

I'm wondering that myself. I have two injured soldiers.. perfectly capable of fighting, but because of a minor injury they can't spar anymore. I turned one soldier into a marksdwarf (because they don't spar, they practice at a range).. and the other one I put up against many goblins. I let him hunt a lot of wildlife.

After about 100 kills, he has not gone above "competent".

So will a brown Spinal wound eventually come good and allow him to level?

I hope it does, I've really taken a shine to this guy.  If he gets to Champion I'm gonna promote him.

No, any damage, be it light (light gray) or moderate (brown) to nerve damage will not heal and the soldier will never spar again. Be glad it's "only" moderate, and not broken or mangled. If that was the case, he wouldn't even get up again.
