Yet Another Request Thread: Evil
« on: June 03, 2009, 04:19:19 am »

Okay, so. This time, I'm looking for games that let you summon demons/be a demon, or possibly necromancer instead. Just some sort of evil/taboo thing. Games like Warlords Battlecry or Dominions are sort of what I'm looking for, but it can be any genre.

Getting the obvious out of the way:

- Dungeon Keeper
- Evil Genius
Both of them are well-known base building sims where you play as the bad guy, but maybe not quite evil enough.

Arguable:
- The Sims
You just need a tiny shred of creativity.

Um...  Most roguelikes have some kind of evil class.  ADOM has necromancy, and I think Slash'EM does too.

First few that come into my mind:

Diablo 2, playing as Necromancer
Overlord
Daggerfall/Morrowind/Diablo have a whole magic tree dedicated to summoning, ranging from beasts to equipment from hell
IVAN - get the ring of polymorph and a ring of polymorph control > ??? > Profit

They're arent to many video games out there that let you play an actual bad game, they suffer the same thing of movies or tv shows. Gotta be the god guy. Even if they're morally grey.

Summoning demons...

The one that our out currently are already listed. Although, Overlord is a bit lite on the evil.

You don't want to just summon demons but be the antagonist though. Even in games like D2, you still save the world in the narrative if I'm not mistaken.

I can think of a few games that let you become the villain, be it in a superficial way. Although one does have a pretty neat ending being the evil person.

How much of a deal break is the demon summoning?

How do you be evil in the sims? I can only think of just being randomly vindictive that will ultimately make the game harder on yourself without cheating.

Nox has a summoner class of some sort.

Interestingly "Graffiti Kingdom" Counts! Though I don't think it is exactly what you have in mind.

Lets see:
Black&White 1&2 (Lol, again, sorry!)
Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines (You're a vampire, need I say more?)

Uhm, well, I'm out of ideas already, I've asked a similiar thing before on a different forum. Most things are named here as well
:P

There's always Heroes of might and magic V. There is a necromancer race and a demon race among others. Older titles of the serie also have those races I believe.

Not really PC gameing, but whatever..

Some Final Fantasy games allow the summoner in your group to summon Ifrit, which is a fire-based summon with kinda demonish looks.
Oh, in FF8 there is one other called Diablos, who uses agravity-based attack (if Im not misstaken).

Well, might not really interest you but hey, was worth a try right?  :)

Well...

I don't think these guys are going to try FF anymore.
FF is so famous, that every gamers will try them, and be put off or addicted to it alike...

Dungeon Keeper is a good one, but it crashes on my computer after a while of playing :/

I suppose I'll have to try Diablo II afterall. I keep hearing about it... VtM is also good. I'll give Heroes of Might and Magic another shot.

I know someone already mentioned The Sims. What they didn't mention is expansion packs. The latest one, Apartment Life, allows your sims to become witches/warlocks of the good/neutral/evil variety. Evil can raise zombies from dead sims, start fires, summon little dudes to attack other sims, etc.

I've been playing the Dominions 3 demo, so it's on my mind.  The gods you pick can be pretty evil.  The upper-tier death and blood spells do things like open gates to hell, blot out the sun forever, and other evil things.
