it's called a "dynamic community"
your good old days are gone and won't come back. Complain about it as much as you like, it does not improve the situation. In fact, your complains make things worse.
They divide the community into "new" and "old" evenmoreso than before.
I used to be a moderator on a hentai forum, and I have been there for a looong time (yes, while I still was a minor, go sue me).
Anyway, I have seen the forum go through many stages, community wise and content wise, and I can say one thing for sure.
Things become REALLY bad once people start to give names to groups or to periods of time. Soon the board was divided into leechers (those who where only there for the porn) and into "quality members" (yes, that was the actual term they used).
And both groupes were again divided into groups depending on how long they have been on the forum.
Soon everybody started talking about how everything was better around the time they joined.
It became a horrible mess, and the mod-team had whole handfuls of work to do.
I have banned over 132 people (and considering how loose our ban-policy was, that was a lot) and most of them were so called "quality members".
The mods (by that time, also an isoltaed group on the board, probably the greatest elitsist of them all) discussed a lot about at what point it went wrong, and we have come to the conclusion that each generation of users always refered to "good old days" regardless of what point of time they joined.
And the newbies were the only ones who never complained about anything, always stating "it ain't so bad"
The answer is easy.
Novelty-factor.
In the first 3 months of someone joining a forum, they are usually the most active during that time, and enjoy the forum the most. they make friends during that time and stick with them for the rest of their stay.
The longer one stays on a forum, the more "bored" you get of it, simply because that novelty is gone. You feel discontent, though you are not sure why, so you pick out some more or elss random undesirables and blame them for your boredom.
You, Kagus, who has been here for ages, are subject to this theory, what we mods used to call "attrition through repetition".
Do NOT blame things on others and do NOT make more posts like this, because people will pick up your complains and it will become a fad.
Yes, a fad.
Complaining easily can become trendy.
if I had the ability, I would lock the thread now, but I can't.
