Arming enemies

If i place weapons and armour in the same room as uncaged captives, will they pick up said weapons? after abandoning even? or, what?

Don't believe so.  Only way to get them to hold a new weapon is to have somebody shove a weapon in them and then get them to pick it back out.  Or, you could try and get them to wrestle a weapon out of someone's hand, but the chances of that happening are about as good as the stab-pull method...

As for abandoning, all on-site non-important creatures are nuked and then replaced with other stuff.  I've never actually tried abandoning with captured sentients wandering around, but I think they'd most likely just be rotting corpses when you get back.

If you want armed goblins in position, lose to a siege.  That should spawn a group of them next time you try to settle there (not sure about adventure mode, but I'd assume the same).
