Are you calling people who use umbrella's wusses?

Don't.  When you have to walk through thick rain (like a bucket being constantly emptied over your head), you will want to have an umbrella.  There is a word for people who wouldn't want an umbrella in that situation, and that word is "insecure."

Umbrellas are more easily stored than cloaks, can easily be taken off, and can be used as an improvised weapon (the latter in some cases).  I can easily see a dwarf having one if he's off to do a job that doesn't use both hands, like hauling some clothes or a weapon.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

DF isn't based on China and Japan. It's based on medieval Europe c. the 1400s.
Maybe only elves have umbrellas then? And dwarves can go on getting wet.
Would you really be cruel enogh to FORCE your dwarf outside into the rain to pick up some useless *pig tail sock* without any rain protection

Even though they were invented in Asia, it has been pointed out that everything necessary to create umbrellas was available to 1400 AD Europe except the idea.  They really are pretty simple devices.  Besides, just because they were in Asia doesn't mean some of them couldn't make their way to Europe.

*Facepalm* That's not what I ment at all.

When the others were saying that "Dwarfs wouldn't use Umbrellas", I was saying that nobles might use them because they are not as hardcore as your average dwarf. I in no way ment that as an insult to umbrella users.
