@aggiedog,
I tried that same map, using the same seed and all of the same listed settings. Like you I only got 30 or so z-levels. I even tried it a couple different times, once on a bone stock DF that was fresh and had zero mods.

87 Z-levels worth of actual mountain to work with, then another 20 of just open sky it seems. 14 of them completely underground.

For those having trouble finding the location, its in the lower left hand corner of the map.

I need to do more fiddling with things on my other worlds methinks....I always ever seem to get 30-36 Z-layers on my maps.

Oops, sorry about the screen shot there.  Seems I hit print screen as the X was flashing off.
  It is one square up and one square to the right of the bottom left corner.


On a related note.  This world seems to be completely without goblins and kobolds.  I have had 3 forts here and never seen any gobbos of kobolds.

After a few world gens, I managed to get a 184 z-level map (with 166 z-levels above ground). It has a chasm, pit, magma pipe, underground river, hfs, sand, and a bit of trees. If you generate it, keep continue on each reject.
