Visual Novels
« on: February 22, 2009, 02:04:14 am »

Anyone went through a good one recently?

Currently due to it's freeware status, I'm going through the first episode of Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, and I'm finding it pleasantly more morbid than it's predecessor.

Probably not.

I'm downloading the insani visual novels right now. I love visual novels, but rarely get a chance to find any good free ones. The commercial ones I've found have mostly hentai content, so I currently cannot buy them (lack of private internet connection.)

I tried making one once, but I could only figure out the basics for the program I was using, and I couldn't design the graphics.

If anyone is interested in making visual novels, google "Novelty Visual Novel Maker" and click the first link to get Novelty. It's pretty easy to understand.

Too bad, the longest journey series are neat adventure games that feel more like watching a movie than playing.

If you can't find any decent ones, why not make them;)

I've always been interested in the Visual Novel genre, it's just that by far most of them are vapid, shallow things with the sole purpose of appealing to your sense of voyeurism. I've yet to find one that has peaked my interest - or for that matter, one whose story can be anything other than "YOU ARE THE GUY. ARE YOU A SOCIALLY AWKWARD ENOUGH DUDE TO GET THE GIRL PROBABLY"

As well, all the posts i've seen you make are flame posts, barely if at all constructive.

I can't really think of many that would maintain a PG-13 rating...

Just finished playing LEAVEs last night. It's pretty sad, pretty moving really. Actually moved me to tears quite a bit. Loved it, therefore!
