Hi there,

I haven't been on the forums in a while;  a quick pass through the past couple screens didn't show me any bugs that look like this one.  Hope it's not a repeat.

A titan came to my poorly-prepared fortress and trashed my entire piddly military before stumbling into a cage trap.  The titan is now cooling its heels in an animal stockpile.

Degel Oltarkodor was one of the few survivors of the fight, and she seems to be suffering from NIGHTMARES OF 'NAM or something because she can't rest:

All of my other dwarves are fine.  It is only Degel whose rest is interrupted by the... uh, I guess mere knowledge that there's a titan in a cage.  WHAT IF IT GETS OUT WHAT IF IT GETS OOOOOUT

Anyway, it's some serious spam and a hit to my framerate:  o mighty Toady, could you please look into it?

The intruder arose, casting off its black cloak.  "Behold, stunted jesters!  It is I, Scuro!"  A jagged scar marked the goblin's face from eye to chin, his greasy mane gray and wild, and about his neck was the broken silver amulet, strapped together by a leather band.

I also have this problem, but for me it is from a goblin bowman in a cage. One of my dwarfs got paralyzed, set of a cage trap and got caught. when i let him out all he does is stand there saying cancel rest. I tried recruiting him, assigning multiple bedrooms and making a bed right nest to him but nothing works.

The OPs problem is a known bug (to me, anyway; I've seen it reported before).  The injured dwarf cancels rest because the titan injured the dwarf before being caught in a cage (rather than being killed).  The dwarf sees that the thing is alive and strangely enough, the bug produces a realistic detail; the injured dwarf keeps waking up because it thinks the titan is still around trying to kill it.

I'm not to clear on the actual cause of the bug itself, but that's an interesting way to think of it.

And this is how tinned food was invented.
Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

I have worked out what to do. I had to move the goblin archer (in your case a titan) to a different z level. I then had to recruit the dwarf, leave it for about 10 seconds (due to massive amounts of lag) until he took a step and i was then able to unrecruit him, and he went off and found himself a bed!. hope this helps :)

Thanks for the advice.  I ended up abandoning that fortress because the titan did more of a number on it than I could fix.  But JFTR, its cage was already being stored on a different z-level than the dwarf was trying to sleep.  I suppose I could have tried to move it to yet another z-level, but now I'll never know!

I would have dumped the caged titan into a room and had some marksdwarves shoot him to death to see if that would let mr. scarred veteran could get some sleep.

That, or smashed the veteran with a drawbridge or something.

No need to abandon the whole fort but from the sounds of it, I suppose the Titan did do enough damage to justify it anyways.

I know its a bug, but it seems like PTSD would be a neat thing to impliment, so long as it didn't generate a billion lines of spam.

I allready have found several cases of PTSD;

Marksdwarves standing idle watching the spot they just lost friends to

Crippled dwarves visiting the place they lost the limb, wandering aimlessly, passing out.
