No water in underground pool
« on: March 01, 2009, 01:05:15 pm »

I was playing on an evil artic map, so I was rather excited to find an underground pool.

Except... there was no water. Just a z level of open space, and a ton of spider webs. I did notice some olm vermin running around, though. (That's how I found it, they were scurrying on the mountainside 2 levels up) So it is a pool, just with only one z-level and without the water or cave creatures...

I think i've had this as well. The area was supposed to have an underground pool, and I noticed a place where there were olms and spider webs, but all sorts of investigative digging around the area turned out no pool :(

I wonder if this would still let you farm tree caps? Try collapsing some ice to get a muddy surface then wait.

I've encountered the same on a cold mountain map.  I actually didn't get the notice about discovering the pool until I had dug out a level beneath it, even though most of my housing block was built in the empty space where water should have been.

The map also had a bottomless pit, chasm, brook, HFS, and magma pipe.  By all accounts the perfect site aside from this little problem.

I have also seen this, can't remember if it was cold/temperate/hot or good/neutral/evil though.

I had a similar experience on a scorching map.
I had assumed that there was a pool, and it had just evaporated before i got to it.
Also, the floor was still muddy, so i plonked some farm plots down, but as soon as i did so they dried up, and the plot proceeded to tell me that i had "no applicable seeds for this location".

Underground pools are freaks  ;)

I did have towercaps start growing on underground dirt after I found the pool. The pool wasn't muddy or anything, though.
